Across the world people are preparing for World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) - will you join them?

On 15th June each year people come together to send out a clear message - that the abuse of older people will not be tolerated. We want an end to the assault, neglect, abuse and intimidation of our older generation.

The message resonates right around the world and does make a difference!

In the UK we have care providers, health providers, council teams, doctors, nurses, solicitors, police and firefighters, schools, colleges, voluntary groups and members of the public, all joining in.

Will you help too?  You can also help by making a Promise:

The PROMISE I make today to older people

And to the future generations who follow them

Today, tomorrow and forever

For you. And for me.

I prevent and stop elder abuse wherever I can

I never knowingly break the trust of an older person

I learn as much as possible about elder abuse

I educate work colleagues, friends and family about elder abuse

Download your promise here and email it to [email protected]

You can also take a picture holding up your promise and put it on Facebook or Twitter using #IPromise, don't forget to Tweet us @AEA_NIreland

We will list your commitment on our special website page, and send you a certificate of commitment for your wall.
