World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

Elder Abuse. Recognise it. Report it. Stop it.

Action on Elder Abuse Cymru is committed to ensuring that no older person suffers abuse at the hands of someone they trust. Elder abuse can take place in a person’s own home, care home, residential home or hospital. Perpetrators can be paid care workers, neighbours, health professionals and family.

Every 15th June we mark World Elder Abuse Awareness Day and we want you to help us raise awareness about elder abuse so that every older person knows that they do not have to accept being abused, that they will be believed and that there is support available to them. You can raise awareness in your workplace or in your community group or by using social media, tagging us into any photos as well as using #WEAAD2018 and making a pledge to end elder abuse.

Alongside raising awareness you could also help us raise funds for our work to help older people across Wales get the support they need. As part of our work protecting older people and preventing abuse we provide direct support through our helpline. We need every person at risk of abuse to know that we are here and that we will listen and provide independent, confidential advice. Your donations will help us greatly with this aim. If you would like to help us raise funds to mark WEAAD 2018 you can download the registration form. You can even create your own fundraising page.

Thank you for supporting us and thank you for becoming part of the AEA team, helping to stop the abuse of older people.

Don’t forget Friday 15th June 2018.

Elder Abuse. Recognise it. Report. Stop it.
