A major activity for AEA is hosting conferences on issues related to elder abuse and the adult protection/safeguarding agenda. Throughout each year, we organise conferences on specific themes (e.g. medication control and abuse) or about specific services (e.g. sheltered housing), all intended to highlight specific issues or increase the knowledge and awareness of practitioners.
We also regularly attend and speak at conferences organised by other organisations, either focusing on our knowledge and experiences of elder abuse in particular, or on our wider knowledge of the adult safeguarding field. Email the relevant Director if you wish to book one of our speakers:
England: Stephen McCarthy Wales: Rachael Nicholson-Wright Scotland: Lesley Carcary Northern Ireland: Veronica Gray
The event will provide the opportunity to hear from a number of speakers, outlining the key issues around coercive control.
This will include contributions by Welsh Women's Aid, the Dewis Choice project, the Office for the Older People's Commissioner of Wales, and an overview of the Welsh Government approach to coercive control.
The event is sponsored by Julie James, AC, Leader of the House and Chief Whip.Read more
