There has been very little focus on the long-term effects abuse has on older victims and how they cope with life after the abuse. Many victims are left isolated and traumatised by their experiences and are in need of structured support to reach full recovery. Often however, this support is not available.

Our Elder Abuse Recovery Service is a unique way of helping people who have suffered abuse. It involves recruiting and training volunteers who are paired up with victims of elder abuse to help them recover from the experience and regain control over their lives.

The service facilitates recovery from the emotional and psychological impact of abuse, empowers abuse survivors to re-gain their confidence, re-engage in their community and helps them keep themselves safe in the future.
