The Early Day Motion 1967, which was put down on 18th April 2006 by Lorely Burt, in Westminster relates to the Maypole Nursing Home in Birmingham which closed in 2003.  The two GP's who owned the home were struck off the General Medical Council in January 2006 for `inappropriate, irresponsible and inadequate behaviour' after the death in just one year of 28 elderly people at the home, the owners having certified that 80 per cent. of these deaths were from bronchopneumonia despite a lack of any medical records or other evidence in support.  more...
