Review of No Secrets/In Safe Hands

The review of 'No Secrets' was formally launched by Ivan Lewis in England on 20th February 2008, and the Welsh Assembly simultaneously announced the establishment of a similar review of 'In Safe Hands' in Wales.

To coincide with both reviews AEA produced a second discussion document, building upon the work we undertook in 2007, which is available here.  This document highlights the key areas of concern or debate, arising from our previous consultations on this matter.

England:

It is anticipated that the No Secrets Consultation document will be issued by the DH at the end of July, although this has still to be definitely confirmed.  A significant amount of consultation has already been undertaken, including in conjunction with AEA, to help draft this document.  As party to the inner planning meetings at the DH, we have sought to voice both our experiences and that of adult protection to ensure the final document focuses upon the key issues.

Wales:

The Group established to take the review forward have met on a number of occasions.  AEA have asked for clarification as to ways in which we may both support and contribute to the review but, so far, there has been a lack of clarity.  We will therefore be formally requesting information, timeframes etc shortly.

Further information to follow.
