The Public Accounts Committee at the Houses of Parliament
held a scrutiny meeting on 25 January 2012 to consider whether or not CQC
was delivering value for money. Our CEO, Gary FitzGerald, gave evidence to
the Committee and you can watch the full hearing here. Download the excellent guide to the law, written by Michael Mandelstam. We would commend this as a useful 'bible' for anyone interested in considering legal action in response to abuse. You can get a copy directly from AEA here. Download the police assessment of financial abuse of vulnerable adults. It is a very useful analysis of the current situation. Again, you can download a copy directly from AEA here. The Care Quality Commission published a report into the Dignity and Nutrition Inspections which they carried out in 100 hospitals across England. We undertook a critical analysis of the inspection reports and published the results of our findings. Download the full report here. The Commission on Assisted Dying published their report with recommendations on changing the law, arguing that 'the current legal status of assisted dying is inadequate and incoherent'. AEA gave extensive evidence to the Commission. You can download a copy of the full report here. The Equality and Human Rights Commission's inquiry into the Home Care system in England revealed disturbing evidence that the poor treatment of many older people is breaching their human rights. AEA was involved in the advisory group and gave evidence to the Inquiry. You can download a copy of the report here. |
