What your money buys

These are some of the costs we have to meet on a regular basis.  With your help we can support our charity and, more importantly, support those vulnerable people that suffer every day.

£300 keeps our helpline running for one day

bullet

Elder Abuse Response is the UK ’s only freephone helpline in the UK dealing with elder abuse. The helpline might be the only confidential source of support and information available to an abused older person.  Without a national, independent service, people who know of abuse and need help may not know where to turn.  The actions of people who have called the helpline have prevented abuse from taking place and have led to successful criminal charges being brought against abusers.  In other cases, it has been the sole source of emotional support to people whose lives are being made a misery by abuse.  Your help can ensure this service continues, and that it carries on growing and reaching more and more people in desperate need.

£500 provides 10,000 leaflets so that people know that help is at hand

bullet

Action on Elder Abuse is distributing 160,000 leaflets in the launch year of the helpline.  In addition, over 35,000 leaflets and a range of books and booklets are produced every year.  These vary from general information leaflets to more specialist resources, and provide older people, their families and carers with the details they need to decide if there is a case of abuse taking place, and also how to contact the charity.

£1,000 provides a month's training, supervision and support for a helpline volunteer

bullet

Along with expert staff, dedicated and skilled volunteers are the most valuable resource available to us.  The helpline could not exist without them.  They offer their time and commitment for free, yet funding is needed to recruit the right people and train them to the very highest standard necessary to deal with calls about abuse.
