Why include Action on Elder Abuse in your will?
A legacy is a gift in a will to a person or cause that you care about.
Legacies can provide a large source of valuable income for Action on Elder
Abuse – remembering us in this was could help to improve the lives of
older people who suffer the most dreadful abuses.
You don't have to be wealthy to do this
A legacy does not have to be a substantial sum. Once you have provided
for those you care about, any legacy you can leave to us, whether large or
small, will be put to challenging the abuse of older people and improving
their lives. By leaving a
legacy, you can provide very real support for a hugely worthwhile cause.
How your legacy will help
Legacies can provide essential funding for us:
£300 keeps our helpline running for one day
 | Elder Abuse Response
is the
UK
’s only freephone helpline in the
UK
dealing with elder abuse. The helpline might be the only confidential
source of support and information available to an abused older person.
Without a national, independent service, people who know of abuse
and need help may not know where to turn.
The actions of people who have called the helpline have prevented
abuse from taking place and have led to successful criminal charges
being brought against abusers. In
other cases, it has been the sole source of emotional support to people
whose lives are being made a misery by abuse.
Your help can ensure this service continues, and that it carries
on growing and reaching more and more people in desperate need.

£500
provides 10,000 leaflets so that people know that help is at hand
 | Action on
Elder Abuse is distributing 160,000 leaflets in the launch year of the
helpline. In addition, over
35,000 leaflets and a range of books and booklets are produced every
year. These vary from
general information leaflets to more specialist resources, and provide
older people, their families and carers with the details they need to
decide if there is a case of abuse taking place, and also how to contact
the charity.
|
£1,000 provides a month's training, supervision and
support for a helpline volunteer
 | Along
with expert staff, dedicated and skilled volunteers are the most
valuable resource available to us. The
helpline could not exist without them.
They offer their time and commitment for free, yet funding is
needed to recruit the right people and train them to the very highest
standard necessary to deal with calls about abuse.
