Here’s other ways you can help us continue the fight to end elder abuse….

A conservative estimate suggests that there will be at 500,000 acts of elder abuse in the UK this year, perpetrated by families alone. No estimate exists for institutions.  By giving just a small amount, you can help us challenge this  scandal.

Elder abuse differs from individual to individual.  For some older people it may mean having their savings stolen. For others, the abuse may be psychological and involve threats of being put into a home, or denied access to the grand-children. Other victims may suffer physical abuse, from slaps to extreme cruelty.

This can be a lonely, isolating experience, leaving people desperate and afraid. Most can do nothing while they lose their dignity and humanity.  Too often the abuser is family, friend, neighbour, or paid worker - breaking a trust that leaves people feeling helpless.

This must stop.  By joining our campaign with a regular gift or a donation, you can help protect older people from abuse.

Mary was ignored by the care staff to the point where she developed bed
sores that ate down to her spine and rotted away her body.  She couldn't tell
anyone and eventually died from blood poisoning.

Joan had over seventy injuries on her body when she died, including cigarette
burns, cuts and bruises. She had only spent a few weeks with her family.

No-one could believe that a carer would rip the finger-nails from June's hand.
But she did, and June was left whimpering in the corner.

Harold was unfortunate to get a bed sore.  They moved him to the attic and
used a scissors to cut the dead flesh away.  Sadly, he died from their
        actions.*

These stories are bleak. But they are reality, and they are not uncommon.  Click here and Tony Robinson, one of our Patrons, will tell you of his own experiences.

Please help us put an end to older people's suffering with just £3 a month or a £12 donation.  To find out how your money could benefit us, click here.
