About Us

Our services

We have a wide variety of services available to help people, families and professionals deal with these issues. Our main activities include:
bulletRunning a national free phone Helpline providing advice, information and support to those who have experienced or are concerned about abuse
bulletBringing the issue out from behind closed doors, helping more people recognise the signs of abuse
bulletProviding training and information to local community groups, older people's action groups and advocates
bulletPublicising the problems older people face through TV, newspaper and radio campaigns
bulletTraining key workers and practitioners in the care and health industry, to raise the levels of care that older adults receive.
bulletOrganising conferences throughout the year on issues relating to elder abuse.  Our National two day conference each March is the major adult protection event of the year.
bulletWorking in partnership with organisations and companies throughout the UK to reach those older people most at risk
bulletLobbying all governments and Assemblies in both the UK and Ireland for changes in legislation and improvements to care standards of older people.  We have been described as a 'critical friend' to governments and this reflects our willingness to positively assist politicians to achieve genuine adult protection.  We interact with Westminster, the Welsh and Northern Irish Assemblies, and with the Scottish Parliament.  We also contribute to developments in Ireland.

This is a major function of our work because it seeks to positively influence and affect the lives of hundreds of older people throughout the four nations.
